MY 2024 HEALTH DATA
This is a visualization of my Apple Health data from 2024. I was curious to find out what health activity data my iPhone collected about me. It was interesting to see what iPhone does and does not measure (in terms of health stats) and what trends I could find.
The visualization was made in Tableau and was rewarded Tableau "Viz of the Day"in March 2025. I was also interviewed for a podcast about the visualization (see below for links).​​
DATA AND ANALYSIS
The project started with an XML export of my Health data from my iPhone. I parsed XML data with Python and stored as an SQL database so the data was clean enough to go into Tableau. Additional data sources (weight measurements, gym reservation and other sports activities) where downloaded as csv files and were connected in Tableau.

Once the data was loaded in Tableau I could start building the dashboard. I was inspired by the work of Ludovic Tavernier's award winning Weather memories and he had written a great guide on how to make the multiple circled diagram.

The final visualisation is built up from 5 layers containing the circles and five charts (bars, lines and bubbles) that are all connected to the dropdown menu to select and see data on a monthly level.
Earlier version
I wanted to recreate the iPhone health app aesthetic as much as possible.
I downloaded the Apple styleguide, fonts and icon package, so it was pretty easy to approximate what it would look like if Apple would ever show its data this comprehensively. I ended up choosing my own cleaner version.
